Last weekend KTM-JMRacing,s Sven Breugelmans entered the last GP MX3 event out of a series of 16 at the German hard track of Jauer. While JMRacing’s Alvaro Lozano grabbed second podium for the event, all eyes were on Sven Breugelmans who came to Jauer with a 33 points overall championship lead over Honda Martin’s Christian Beggi. Sven fairly easy managed to set pole during Saturday’s qualifying session so confidence was high to wrap up the title during first race on Sunday.
After a reasonable start, Sven cruised the track in safety-mode and finished 7th, while it was Beggi who went out of his way to eventually finish in 4th. position.
This result was all Sven needed to secure the 2008 MX3 World Championship title for KTM-JMRacing and Moto-Master!
Sven’s hopes of riding a victory race where shattered when during the sighting lap prior to the second race his bike stalled and would refuse to re-start. Later it became clear there had been a mix-up of some water in the fuel tank. Any frustration caused by this freak-dnf was soon forgotten when Sven stood on the #1 position of the World Championship podium an took off his Pirelli cap to listen to the Belgium national anthem.
A beautiful moment for Sven and everybody at KTM-JMRacing, the official KTM factoryteam in MX3..
Congratulations Sven!
