After a five weeks break the French Elite Championship went on in Plomion (North of France), and once more Gregory Aranda and Steven Frossard were two strong contenders of the fourth round of the series. Second and third overall, they secured their positions in the standings and had a strong reaction after the disappointing GP of Benelux.
After four GP’s within the past five weeks it was time to race at home for the French riders, who travelled to North of France for the fourth of the six events Elite series. On the hard and chalky track of Plomion home of a MX3 GP last year they were supported by a huge crowd, which was pleased to see great racing during the three heats.
For the third time this season Gregory Aranda dominates all his rivals during the opening race, where he grabbed the holeshot and then resisted to the assaults of local hero Cyril Coulon who will do later several mistakes. Steven Frossard came straight in the leading group, battling with the 450 of Aranda, Vuillemin and Coulon for the lead; one of the fastest rider on the track – he posted the second best lap time only twenty four tenth of a second behind Coulon – Steven crossed the finish line in second position behind teammate Aranda. Both Greg and Steven had to recover from a bad start in the following race, coming back fourth and sixth on a slippery track as the rocks came out through the racing day. Neither Greg nor Steven missed their last start of the weekend, coming both in the leading group; Greg and Vuillemin offered the best show to the public, as they share several times the leadership until the last laps. Unfortunately for him Gregory crashed in one of the last circulations and let Vuillemin win another moto, while Steven secured another green podium with a strong third position. To complete this great performance Loic Rombaut did his best race of the season, always among the ten fastest riders of the weekend. Always around the twentieth position at the start, the CLS rider did three consistent races to grab a eighth, ninth and seventh heat result and secure a seventh position overall.
